a message from our president.....
Greetings!
As we begin a new decade in Braddock Heights history, I welcome you to join us, as we recall the past with fondness and enjoy the present with one another. Braddock Heights has a rich history of charming places, and most importantly,
the wonderful people who have come and gone and have made Braddock Heights the incredible community that it is today.
It is an honor to serve as president of our community's Historical Society. We look forward to sharing and making more history
with you at our Braddock Heights Historical Society meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:30.

BHHS NEWS
“If Your Antiques Could Talk”
Topic of BHHS February Meeting
Our community is rich with history and vivid stories of the seasons and days gone by. Our “pioneers” who still live in Braddock have shared stories of the memorable holidays celebrated and the winter snowstorms and activities that brought the community together. While walking late one night down Maryland Avenue after the recent snow in December and gazing at the beauty of the holiday lights reflecting in the snow and the coming together of neighbors and friends the next day to support one another in clearing the sidewalks and driveways in the typical Braddock spirit, I realized that no matter what generation we share our stories from, some things will never change in “Beautiful Braddock”. We get the honor of placing our footprint on the ones yet to come.
Mark your calendars for our upcoming February meeting “If Your Antiques Could Talk” on Tuesday, February 9th at 7:30 PM at the Braddock Heights Community Center. Come and join us with one or two of your antiques in tote as Auctioneer, Robert Wilson shares information and enlightens us with history of your treasures. Other upcoming BHHS programs will be announced at a later date and are held on the 2rd Tuesday of each month at 7:30 at the Church of the Transfiguration. Everyone is welcome!
Our winter snowstorm in December put a bit of a damper on our annual holiday party this year but definitely didn’t damper the spirits of Braddock. A special thank you goes to Franny Randall for hosting the “BHHS Celebration of the New Year” party on Tuesday, January 12th, at her lovely home Casa Loma. Nearly 30 people attended our January meeting and celebration as Franny shared the history of Casa Loma. Please let us know if you would like to host a BHHS monthly meeting in your home to talk about its history as it has been so enlightening this year to learn more about the “down home” stories of our community by “the caretakers” who live there.
If you are not presently a member of the BHHS, please consider joining this year. We need your support in making many of our goals and visions for Braddock Heights a reality. Dues are $15.00 for Individuals, $25.00 for a Family and $35.00 for Businesses. For more information on the BHHS, please contact President, Carol Daiger at 301-371-9346 and or visit our website at www.braddockhistory.org.
